Bye-election: APC’s Obafemi Saheed Wins Lagos Assembly Seat

Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Obafemi Saheed, has been declared winner of the Kosofe II State constituency bye-election held on Saturday.

Returning Officer for the election, Professor Iyiola Oni of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) announced the result on Sunday.

The APC candidate polled 12,434 votes defeating his closest rival, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sikiru Alebiosu, who secured 2,008 votes.

The total number of votes cast was 15,124 as 361 were rejected. 15,133 voters were accredited for the election out of 280,251 registered voters.

The constituency’s seat became vacant after the death of former House of Assembly member, Tunde Buraimoh.

The deceased represented the constituency before he died of COVID-19 in July.
